Elekeiroz follows a strict Code of Ethics and Corporate Conduct, established back in 2000 and supported by an internal culture driven to people valorization, austere compliance with rules and regulations and permanent talent for development.
This code, which is integrated among industrial segment companies of the Holding Itaúsa, was renovated in 2005, to serve as a guide to the consolidation of a world-class company that intends to be sustainable and enduring.
Elekeiroz condemns all forms of discrimination, be it of race, color, sex, religion, age, social class, sexual orientation, disability, nationality, among others. The Company orients, through its Code of Ethics and Conduct, what is expected from each of its employees, regardless of their position or function, in its relationships with shareholders, customers, suppliers, competitors, coworkers, government, media, general community, partners and capital market.
In addition to the Code, the industrial segment of the Group has also issued a specific briefing on anti-bullying and sexual harassment and established an exclusive channel to receive any reports or complaints and investigation of ethical conflicts and misconduct.
Violations, or alleged violations to the codes occurred at Elekeiroz may be communicated by phone or mail to the Human Resources area, or sent by e-mail to the electronic address disk.conduta@elekeiroz.com.br. The complaint can be anonymous and the procedure of verification will take place in secrecy.
As to hiring workers, the Company does not employ child labor in any of its activities and only hires minors to comply with the legislation that determines the quota of 5% of learners in functions that demand professional training.
Elekeiroz has no activity with significant risk for incidents of forced or slave labor. Regardless the non use of forced labor, Elekeiroz recorded, in its employee relations chapter, its expressed attitude against the use of position or function to create any type of professional embarrassment. The Company also repudiates the use of labor similar to slavery, according to the adherence to the principles set by the International Labor Organization (ILO), which are part of the Brazilian labor regulation. No occurrence of such nature happened in the Company for the last three years.
Related to discrimination and/or violations against indigenous rights, there is no record of cases involving Elekeiroz, stressing also the fact that the Company’s manufacturing sites are located in urban areas.
In 2009 there were no layoffs or punishment motivated by questions of conduct, as Elekeiroz received no complaints of corruption cases involving any of its employees and, similarly, in that period, the Company did not suffer sanctions through arbitration mechanisms. In both cases the performance has been recurrent over the past three years.
Since Elekeiroz is a company producing chemical intermediates for other industries, with no direct serving to the end consumer, it does not apply to set in its communication, programs adherence to laws, regulations and codes related to marketing communication, including advertising, promotion and sponsorship. During the year of 2009 there were no registers of accusations or complaints regarding violations to publicity auto regulation codes or actions of advertising, promotion and sponsorship, or infringement to customers’ privacy.
